NARRAGANSETT BOATHOUSE

FALL 2022 PROFESSOR GINETTE CASTRO

The site for this project is located on the Seekonk river, in Providence Rhode Island. In a visit to the site I was drawn to the stone rip rap that lined the coast. Drawing inspiration from the site, the Narragansett Boat House employs stone on the exterior facade and interior spaces. The site is relatively small, so the parti for this project is centered around expanding the coast using stone. The stone begins at the boat storage level, continuing up into the second level of the boathouse. Further developing the idea of expanding the coast, I designed a dock that mimicked the curve of the expanded coastline. The second level circulation is broken into two sections, public and private, separated by a club room overlooking the river.
